Anyone who has ever moved with a dog or a cat knows that it can be incredibly stressful to do so. Not only for you, but for your furry friend too!
All of the hustle and bustle of moving mixed with the stress your pet reads off you can end up causing anxiety and, at times, bad behavior. Be sure to be super patient with your pet during times like these. Give them lots of love, while at the same time not changing up their routine too much.
There are also things you can do before, during and after the move to help adjust your pet to the new situation. Things like sprinkling your scent in the new home before your arrival and conditioning your pet by having a few boxes out weeks before moving day can help ease their fears and help them feel safe.
You will also want to make sure your pet has their collar and tags on, and their microchip updated just in case they somehow get loose. If you’re afraid this might happen, it can also be helpful to leave them at a friend or family member’s house until the move is over.
