National Train Your Dog Month Tip #17: Pay Attention To What Your Dog is Telling You. When training your pup, it's only natural to want to help introduce him to new situations. In fact, we recommend it! However, make sure to listen and pay attention to your dog's body language.
If your pup is clearly uncomfortable meeting a new dog or person, don't push it. Cowering and low growling are signs that your dog is not comfortable - so pay attention! In these situations, we don't recommend forcing the situation, respect that your pup doesn't feel right about it and move on. It'll help avoid unwanted problems down the line.
